I created Waxology because I fell in love with beeswax wraps. These products do so much for our environment and help add to a sustainable future for everyone. They are so incredibly easy to use and care for that you won’t miss plastic wrap at all.

The ingredients used to make every wrap are quite simple; locally sourced pure beeswax and resin. Unlike a number of other food wraps, mine don’t contain pine resin and I’ve done this for a few reasons. The first and biggest reason is due to allergies, if you are allergic to pine trees then chances are that you’re allergic to pine resin. The second reason is that damar resin has been issued a natural product license by Health Canada. Meaning “Products with a licence have been assessed by Health Canada and found to be safe, effective and of high quality under their recommended conditions of use.” Click here for more information on LNHPD. The last reason I’ve chosen damar resin is that it’s an awesome sustainable product that is an alternative to deforestation. The majority of the worlds supply of resin comes from Indonesia where farmers have large tree gardens. Instead of clear cutting land to grow crops they simply tap the trees to collect the resin, much like we tap our maple trees for sap. The trees are not harmed in any way during the harvesting process.

I make every wrap by hand from my own kitchen here in Milton, Ontario. I have meticulously researched and sourced all the materials I use. One big thing that is really important to me is keeping all the materials as local as I possibly can. I get my wax from an apiary within 45 minutes of my home.

I am a stay at home mom with 3 amazing boys who keep me pretty busy. They were my inspiration for wanting to create something sustainable and leave a healthy planet for generations to come. I truly believe that the key to being environmentally conscious begins at a young age. What we teach our children now and the lifestyle we lead is going to stick with them as they grow.
